About "the meeting place"

Originally our website supported a GREAT magazine that was launched in Spring 1998. Then titled the Lockhouse to Lighthouse publication (with a website of the same name), LtL was published for more than 8 years.

Then in 2006 we went to a full-color, glossy magazine format. Our community of Havre de Grace was changing and growing, the new publication, havredegrace Magazine, was a reflection of those changes while still carrying the flavor and tone of our community.

There was much to be excited about: new residents building and buying homes in the area, new businesses bringing a zest to the community while many of our long-standing businesses offered a sense of continuity. And the changes coming to Aberdeen Proving Ground and BRAC would hopefully bring a new kind of positive energy (though change is always challenging)!

The ARTS thrived in this constantly evolving environment offering a wonderful outlet to the many creative faces joining our community. At the same time, we looked forward to sharing the diverse architecture, business community, museums, and peoples who have been the mainstay of our city.

Life-long residents and 'newbies' alike love Havre de Grace. That energy is what we hope to share with visitors to our town trough the updates on this website.

The havredegrace Magazine has been sold, but this website continues to keep residents and visitors aware of the diverse offerings of our thriving community. In Dec. 2009 I had decided that maybe someone should take the lead from the internet side. I just kept a single page up for nearly 5 months, pointing visitors to the myriad of sites related to the city and her activities. But soon, my labor of love required a little more TLC.

Thus....

I just love Havre de Grace too much to stop working with this site.
Plus - I so enjoy the visitors and want to bring them back often!
Thanks to Mara and Walt and many others who encouraged me to
bring the site back. I hope you enjoy your visit - both here and to our City.

I once again hope you enjoy the site as much as I enjoy trying to maintain it. The community is surviving the economic times and again is thriving. We're a resilient city and have much to share. Come visit for a few hours. Better yet, get to know us by hanging around for a long weekend or a couple weeks.

Looking forward to seeing 'round town.

Warmly,
